Every year on a rolling base Zonar and NAPT award qualifying schools with up to $50,000 in technology hardware to enable school districts to manage their bus fleet operations more safely and effectively.
The “Don Carnahan Memorial Grant” is named as such in recognition of Don’s lifelong contributions to the student transportation industry. Don Carnahan dedicated 45 years to the education and pupil transportation industry including school district administration, Department of Education Administration and private sector employment partnering with education institutions. Don joined Zonar in 2003 served 11 years as a company leader. He was also a two-term President of NAPT.
The rolling grant opportunity has been made available annually to eligible NAPT members since 2011. The solutions provided include real-time insight into school bus fleets with live location reports, student ridership status and driver performance data. Additionally, the solutions verify that maintenance and inspections are in compliance, up-to-date by remotely detecting and flagging mechanical issues to significantly reduce performance problems and help eliminate breakdowns.
